The National Union of Students (NUS) has named the date for their national demonstration. Tens of thousands of students will descend on central London on Wednesday 21st November. NUS has already agreed to build for a student bloc on the TUC national demonstration against austerity this October 20th. The NUS demo needs to build for the biggest mobilisation possible, campaigning on issues that effect ordinary students; crippling tuition fee rises, draconian cuts, the scrapping of EMA, and soaring rents. Students starting university this September will be furious at the being forced the pay the new trebled £9,000 a year, and students lucky enough to be able to get to college will completely be without EMA. Unlike in 2010, NUS can’t use this demo merely to let off steam. November 21st must be the begginning of a mass struggle that inspires students to fight for their education and a future alongside workers defending their jobs, services and livelihoods.
