Socialist Students got into a flying start to the new term with stalls and a meeting at Leeds City College this week. Our petition calling for an end to the Con-Dem attacks on education, and to bring back EMA got lots of interest. Ten people paid up there and then to join the Socialist Students society at the college, with over twenty more expressing an interest in coming to future meetings or activities.
Leading with “Support the general strike against the government – sign the petition” over 40 people signed the petition at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) in Preston. 12 of them joined Socialist Students at UCLan, where we’ll kick off next week with our first Socialist Students meeting of the new academic year on “Why students should support a general strike”.
